On September 29, acting Kosovo CAA Director General Mr. Arianit Islami defended his doctorate in the field of Air Traffic Management at the Civil Aviation University (ENAC) in Toulouse, France.
His dissertation on the topic “Large scale trajectory planning” treats increasing capacity in Air traffic Management (MTA) systems, with a methodology to deal with the strategic planning of “Trajectory Based Operations (TBO)” by defining a safe 4D trajectory for any aircraft.
Mr. Islami has published several scientific papers:
- “Large Scale 4D Trajectory Planning” presented at the 4th EIWAC Air Traffic Management Conference in November 2015 in Tokyo. This paper has been selected by the publisher SPRINGER for its publication in 2016. (Air Traffic Management and Systems – II , 420, Springer, pp 27-47, 2016, Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering),
- “Optimization of military missions impact on civilian 4D trajectories”,
- “Selective Simulated Annealing for Large Scale Airspace Congestion Mitigation”.
Mr. Islami has completed a masters degree in the field of communication, navigation and satellite-based surveillance at the same University in France.
As an expert in the field, from 2009 Mr. Islami has been engaged as a lecturer in the course “Safety Management Systems (SMS)”, first at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, then also as a lecturer in the Advanced Master in Safety Management in Aviation program at the University of Civil Aviation of France (ENAC).
Arianit Islami is a professional with over 20 years of extensive experience in aviation and among the first Kosovar personnel trained in this unique field. Since 1999, he has exercised various responsibilities as a senior official in the civil aviation sector, initially as an engineer in Air Traffic Control, and since 2003 on the side of the civil aviation regulator, where he currently holds the position of Acting Director of General of CAA.
CAA is proud of having such professionals in its midst.
