24/02/2015
CAA has published the document Occurrence Reporting Overview 2014 which contains data for all occurrences reported to CAA during 2014. Pursuant to legislation in force in the Republic of Kosovo, “occurrence” means an operational interruption, defect, fault or other irregular circumstance that has or may have influenced flight safety. Occurrence reporting contributes to the improvement of safety of civil aviation through better knowledge of these occurrences to facilitate analysis and trend monitoring for initiating corrective actions.
During 2014, a total number of 174 occurrences were reported to CAA, which were classified and categorised based on their severity and type. Those occurrences have been reported from personnel working at Prishtina International Airport Adem Jashari LKIA, Air Navigation Services Provider and airlines. Occurrence reporting overview 2014 contains statistics, a short explanation of each category and short descriptions of some of the occurrences.
For the purpose of setting out the rules on occurrence reporting in civil aviation, CAA published in 2009 the Regulation nr. 1/2009 on Occurrence Reporting in Civil Aviation. The ultimate goal of occurrence reporting is the prevention of incidents and accidents and not attribution of blame or liability.
