Upon the invitation of the Director General of the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC), Prof. Dr. Kemal Yüksel, the Acting Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Burim Dinarama, together with Mr. Kushtrim Musa, Director of the Flight Safety Department, participated in the “AI IN THE SKY 2024” international conference held from November 12-14, 2024, in Antalya. The event was organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and supported by the DGAC of the Republic of Turkey.

The conference was officially opened by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Abdulkadir Uraloglu, and aimed to explore the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data on the civil aviation sector, taking into account the implications for safety, efficiency, environmental protection, and the sustainable development of global civil aviation networks.

This event brought together government officials, industry leaders, and technology innovators to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance airspace efficiency, improve safety, and ensure sustainable growth in global aviation networks. It also emphasized ICAO’s role in developing a unified regulatory framework to facilitate the safe and efficient adoption of AI technologies worldwide.

Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and networking opportunities, participants gained valuable insights into advancing AI-driven solutions and fostering international collaboration to fully leverage data-driven innovation in aviation.

During the conference, Mr. Dinarama held a bilateral meeting with the Director General of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Kemal Yüksel, during which discussions focused on bilateral agreements between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Turkey, as well as advancing cooperation in specific areas of civil aviation.

Mr. Dinarama also held informal meetings with the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, and Mr. Jorge Vargas, Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Office (CDI).

The participation of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Kosovo and the meetings held during this conference are considered highly significant for Kosovo’s path toward integration into international civil aviation safety organizations.
