Different categories of aircraft require different aircraft oversight procedures, depending on the regulations which they fall under.
Certified aircraft holding standard certificate of airworthiness fall under both EU and national regulations. These aircraft are usually referred to as “EASA aircraft” since European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is responsible for their certification in the territory of the European Union.
Some categories of aircraft do not fall under the mandatory EU rules. They are usually referred to as “Annex II aircraft“ based on Annex II to the Regulation No. 03/2009 (EC Reg. 216/2008) defining the categories of these aircraft. These aircraft are certified based on the national legislation.
